On the display, open Setup and choose to pair. It shows a code and a QR. Scan the QR with your phone, or type the code here.
What appears here once a display is paired
The Hangar — every airframe the display has seen, with how many times and how close. Pinned aircraft, which the display shows whether they are overhead or not. Which screens are on, and where the display thinks it is.
None of it is needed for the display to work. Unplug the internet and it carries on showing what is overhead.
